Is it safe to say that I am one of the few dawgs who have witnessed Troy "state" play this year? It was for their game against Okie State. Some observations:
- Troy is less than a two hour drive from Columbus, GA. I encountered no traffic on dark country roads the entire drive.
- They play in a place called Movie Gallery Stadium, (Movie Gallery is based out of Dothan, AL, and recently filed for bankruptcy).
- Their running back, (name rhymes with "caboose") is better than their QB. The guy is fast and a bruiser.
- They beat Ok. State at home on a Friday night, (and just after a torrential downpour). Not only was Ok. State's RB from Columbus, (Savage) injured for the game, they had just decided to bench their QB, Bobby Reid for the game, too. The outcome of the game and the mystery behind his benching are what lead to Gundy's "I'm 40, I'm a man" speech after the win against Texas Tech.
- Troy's PA guy practiced with the fans before the game on what to say when Troy made a play on offense, (i.e. on a first down the PA announcer would say "And that's another..." the crowd would respond "TROY - FIRST - DOWN !"). Very annoying and bush league.
- High school football game was going on directly across the street from the stadium. This is probably why the game was not a sellout, (not due to the weather). Rednecks from Alabama love high school football more than we do.
- Troy is a very undisciplined, but talented, football team, (reminded me of watching Miami 'of old' play).
Final Analysis:
Troy will make a big play on offense at some point in the first half. It would not surprise me in the least if their entire team does something stupid, (like celebrating in the endzone) after their initial score. This act of "dumbassedness" will piss off our team, giving us the motivation we need to wake up from the hang-over of the Florida win.
Final score: Georgia 47 Troy 17
